CONTESSA Project Meeting in Dresden, October 4-7, 2022

From October 04-07, project members of the TU Dresden welcomed their guests for a project meeting. The meeting took place hybrid, so that participation was also possible online. Together, numerous project-relevant topics were discussed, such as the implementation and sustainability of the developed educational modules, their further development and editing, but also questions regarding final and financial reports, and much more.
Furthermore, we took a field trip to the Königstein Fortress in Saxon Switzerland and went back to Dresden by paddle steamer. Finally, we participated together in this year’s GENEME 2022 conference and held an open meeting.

Final Conference in Cambodia – August 17, 2022

The University of Cambodia hosted the final CONTESSA conference in Cambodia. Welcoming remarks were made by Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, the President of UC and Dr. Sam-Ang Sam, the Chancellor of PUC. Afterwards, Mr. Bryan Fornari, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation, discussed education and the importance of the cooperation between the EU and Cambodia. Project members including Prof. Meas Nearyroth (PUC), Dr. Angus D. Munro (UC), Dr. Thomas Köhler (TUD) and Mr. Orkhan Jalilov (TUD) discussed various aspects of the project such as the overview and development of the project and the joint efforts towards pedagogical professionalization. Members of the Ministry of Education and the Siem Reap Regional Teacher Education Center also spoke about the collaboration beyond just the partner universities.

Train-the-Trainer Workshops in Cambodia and Sri Lanka. April 26 – May 5, 2022

After much planning and determination, the Train-the-Trainer workshops were held in person in Cambodia and Sri Lanka. The TUD team together with our partners from PUC, UC, OUSL and UoC led the workshops in the CONTESSA smart classrooms. Teacher trainers from both countries were introduced to the CONTESSA modules and worked through interactive exercises on professional development, mentoring and cross-national perspectives.

CONTESSA PRESENTATION EVENT: THE PAÑÑĀSĀSTRA UNIVERSITY OF CAMBODIA

A presentation event was organized at the Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia in July 2019 to publicize the project to all involved parties and stakeholders and to encourage participation. The event was promoted through personal invitations, word of mouth, website banners and social media. The news media was present and CONTESSA received coverage on Facebook and on the local news station.

KICKOFF EVENT: BUILDING BRIDGES

From January 15 – 18, 2019, a four-day international conference, Building Bridges, took place at the University of Graz. Building Bridges was organized by the Institute of Educational Sciences of the University of Graz, in particular by Mag. Dr. phil. Sandra Hummel. The organization team received support from colleagues at the institute including Univ.-Prof. Dr. Rudolf Egger and cooperating partners from Germany, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Building Bridges served as a successful kickoff to the CONTESSA project.
